A Beginner’s Guide

Hello, you’re most welcome.

Ernest Hemmingway once said ‘Don’t talk about writing. Just write.’ and even by simply quoting that great man, I have failed job one.

My name is Chris, and I am an overthinker. This is Anxiety & Biscuits, a humorous blog charting my struggle through the basics of adult life here in the UK. Allow me to demonstrate exactly how much you shouldn’t worry about romance, employment and trying to be funny.

I currently offer three types of blog, for your delight and delectation:

  • Blogs are the standard fair, lengthy ramblings with all the footnotes: the numerous humorous insecurities that will one day no doubt be used in evidence against me.
  • Crumbs are small, bite-size chunks of chuckles.
  • Admin is where I break character and get all boring.

I hope you enjoy your stay. If you’re a newcomer, more information about me can be found here and here, although if you’re only here on a flying visit, may I recommend the eight-part saga in which I fail to talk to a pretty girl on a bus, which begins here and continues here. (It’s gone down rather well.)

Thank you, and best wishes,

Chris Biscuits.

    • Thanks very much! It’s an absolute honour. These Blog Awards are like gold dust, aren’t they? I do like a bit of pomp and ceremony.

I unfortunately recently did a similar post, so if you don’t mind I’d like to take you up on the offer of not publicising it massively, although I have referenced it in a post I’ve just done now.

      Thanks again!

  1. I don’t know how you found my blog, especially in the middle of being freshly pressed and all but I’m glad you did! I enjoyed what I’ve read so far and will come back for more Britishness 😉

    • Thank you, I found you via a comment on Jess in Belgium’s post about being Freshly Pressed, and I thought to myself, ‘That looks like a funky avatar, I shall have a further look.’ and I did, and I’m glad I did because you are smashing.

Did I understand your comment correctly? Are you getting FP’d? If so congratulations! Or were you referencing my own FP, and were instead being lovely and showing that you were polite enough to read my scribblings? If so, thank you!

      • Huh? I wouldn’t wonder how you had found me if I had just been freshly pressed 😉 I haven’t had this privilege yet but I’ve been asking the universe for a while now so fingers crossed!

I just read your last post about the flow of comments and new followers you just got. It must be a lot of new blogs to check out so I was surprised you had found mine on top of the rest.

  2. Arg I don’t know if you’ll see this as you’re clearly overwhelmed with freshly pressed popularity at the moment – congratulations by the way! But I’ve nominated you for a blogging award! Yay! Congratulations! I’m sure you know the rules by now, if you’ve forgot all the details are on my wall! kthanks

    • You are indeed sending me an award, and that is a lovely thing to do, and I thank you. These things are like gold dust, and are not to be approached with insincere skittish frivolity. I will treat this gesture with every ounce of gravitas it derives, and then some.

I do, of course, appreciate the sentiment. I will link to you at the next available opportunity, not just because of this definitely-not-contrived-nicety, but because your blog is great and I think you would benefit from more input from others, and also because we’re blog mates and I like you.

  4. I like this blog, and I think we are much alike, which means my freshly pressing is coming along ANY DAY NOW WORDPRESS. Seriously, I am very anxious myself and I like biscuits. It’s like a match made in Heaven. Or something. I would have “liked” it but I was stupid and used Internet Explorer and it sometimes won’t let me like stuff because it is opinionated as hell and its opinions suck. I think I was saying something here. Nice blog.
